Terma Traditions in Tibet – One Hundred Flowers

Tibet is home to terma treasures, which are typically guarded by dakinis. These secret teachings are thought to have been composed by the lama Padmasambhava in the 8th century. He hid them so that they might survive what he foresaw as an “Age of Dissolution” in which the Buddhist teachings (dharma) would be in danger. This painting derives from just such a “treasure” text.
